While not currently living in Florida, some friends of mine have a Florida room (aka all season room, enclosed patio, what have you). The theme is white bamboo with a tolerable, tropical floral pattern. A chair, a sofa, a dining table and four captain’s chairs were all done in the same motif, with a matching footstool and seashells accents. It was nice.
Nothing Says The Tropics Like Bamboo, Seashells And Palm Trees
Many living rooms in Florida open onto a patio. Decide whether or not you want to tie the patio in with the living room or if they will be two completely separate entities. Keeping it light and airy is a good idea in hot climates. Fabrics that breathe are a must in a climate such as Florida’s. A chaise at one end or the other of your modern sofa is nice for a quick afternoon nap after a rousing round of golf or a dip in the ocean.
Florida Real Estate Isn’t Cheap
If you can’t afford a large place and you’re putting up with more of a studio apartment, there’s a beautiful piece of furniture that would go perfectly in a Florida loft or studio. It is a chaise on one end with a connecting sofa. The sofa connects to what amounts to a double bed. The upholstery is all the same and there are accent throw pillows.
That last piece almost made me want to downsize!
