As soon as the time for the holidays roll in, there would a good number of moms who would go through panic attacks and palpitations thinking about the stressful days of shopping, packing, cooking and cleaning they will have to go through in order to get through the holiday season. And by the time the holiday season is come and gone, they would be so high strung with stress that they heave an inward sigh of relief while packing away the decorations and cleaning up the post party mess. However well prepared any moms think they are when the holiday season starts, it only takes a few moments to realize that the perfect peaceful holiday would stay just that, a dream.
If a stress free holiday is what is on the mind, the first thing that needs to be done is to get the holiday plans as organized as possible. One way to do that is to have the work divided into different small tasks which can be spanned out over a period of few weeks so that the stress of getting everything ready at the last moment doesn’t eat into you. And once this is done, the best thing would be to start tackling this list as soon as possible as a head start can never hurt.
However, in spite of these attempts, if the holiday stress still catches up, then that is the time to take a break and give oneself a little time to relax as it would definitely help you survive the holiday season unscathed. If shopping for gifts is a chore for you, then go ahead and make a game out of it. Get together with your friends and go for shopping and make a game out of it with the condition that the first person to pick out all the gifts would be declared the winner. And the others can treat the winner to a dinner or a day at spa or any other relaxing activities. But if you are going to go shopping by yourself, get yourself a small gift once you are done with all the shopping as a pat on the back.
Another way to get de-stressed right before the holiday season is to have a day spent on you. Book yourself a day at the spa and enjoy a relaxing massage and a facial and pamper yourself thoroughly so that you are well relaxed even before the holiday stress begins. Also, even when the holiday season starts, make sure you take some time off your schedule to do something you enjoy so that you have your personal time to put your feet up and relax.
And once you have relaxed well and pampered yourself, you will realize that you are ready to face the holiday stress and take it by its horns too.
