Posted by admin in I’m moving from Los Angeles to Jacksonville and am concerned about the lack of hip, progressive neighborhoods. Are there any areas that stand out as such? I’m looking for a decent-sized gay and lesbian community, fun coffee shops, funky restaurants that stay open late, etc. I want to live in a lively place…not a nursing home or a ‘burg where religious conservatives suffocate the life away. Skip Jacksonville and move to Euro Frisco?
Definately, the San Marco, Avondale, Riverside and “Five Points” areas. Springfield is good too, but is still a bit dodgy Crime wise, but you is up and coming. Try to explore the neighborhood using the Street View feature at the web-site of Fizber. It feels like walking down the street: http://streetview.fizber.com/
